So another day was spent with my mom, helping her out with her numerous, chronic and painful mystery disease. Her lower body has been racked by neurological damage that no doctor has been able to treat- or even venture to postulate as to the cause of this severe trauma. Along with that, we have to deal with the bureaucracy here in Israel (which anyone living here can tell you is insane!); Istill don’t understand why they can’t email the Doctor referrals directly to the hospital or at least the patient, why do we need to personally come in, buy a fax machine (wtf for?) or wait forever for Israel’s truly “snail” mail will arrive at your house. It’s the damn 21st century, learn to use email! Anyway, before I start going off on a tirade against Maccabi Health Insurance, I should probably snack on something -launching tirades on an empty stomach will just end badly…

After much prodding by friends, I decided to follow the virtual trade winds and create a blog. At first I thought “why me,” but then again, I thought “why not me?”
I was born in the old Austro-Hungarian city of Czernowitz, which today is a rather sleep Ukrainian town quietly tucked away in the south western corner of of the country, at the slopes of the Carpathian mountains. In 1979 I moved to New York City, along with many thousands of Soviet Jews, and settled in Brooklyn.
I studied at PS 100, and graduated the United Nations International School. I studied at JTS/Columbia, and the received a Masters from the London School of Economics. I lived in NY, London, and come June, it will be 5 years since I moved to Tel Aviv, Israel.
My interests include Media, tech gadgets, green/clean-tech, Zionism, politics, history, geography, travel, music, art, language, and the ancient world.

The new bright, sunny Western Sunrise blog has just debuted. Like all blogs, it will reflect the tastes, interests, protests, passions, etc of the blogger. It will of course, therefore be different from all other blogs since we are obviously all different. In short, the “Western Sun” (for short) is a blog that will seek to inform, enlighten, enrage, and inspire . Like a persimmon, in may need to undergo some bletting before it ripens into something tasty enough to want to consume on a near daily basis. The inspiriation for the blog was the colour orange. With that said, stay tuned for the next post.

Soooo, the other day I was walking with my pal Johnny Sagan in the Yemenite quarter and decided to launch a blog. Here goes nothing!
